‘The Aborist’ short story collection

I tend to use Camp NaNoWriMo as my base for when I’m working on a project these days, as the word counter and goal help me with accountability. Sure enough, it helps me balance out the discipline with taking a night off from writing. In the last month, I have been working on the first short story in what I hope to be a collection under the title of ‘The Arborist’.

Featuring botanist and hydroponic researcher Sybil Ryant, the stories track her descent into the world of mercenary work, a past she has long left behind. At present, I am nearing the conclusion of the first tale (under the working title Into the Dust) with another three sketched out, plotwise.

These are still early days, and though I will be returning to work on my novel Conclave at some point soon, I wanted to follow my gut with writing a fix-up novel in the style of the retro science fiction tales that had inspired me, namely Northwest of Earth by C.L Moore, Foundation by Isaac Asimov, and Tuf Voyaging by George R.R Martin.

Thanks again for reading, and watch this space for more updates in the future.
